Roots of the Bevilacqua family date back to 1499 in the textile world of Venice. Today they are known for their exceptional woven textiles of silk and silk/cotton.
In 1499 Giovanni di Niccolo Mansueti painted The Capture Of Saint Mark In The Synagogue, mentioning the names of the noblemen who commissioned it: one of them was “Giacomo Bevilacqua, weaver”.
Luigi Bevilacqua founded the company in 1875 after recovering looms and machines once used by the Silk Guild of the Republic of Venice. Today the Bevilacqua family still owns and operates this historic house of weaving.
